Pet Surrender Facts
85% of people who call to surrender their pet go through with it
Over seven and a half million pets enter shelters every year
Of those 7.5 million, about 3 million are euthanized per year
In both cats and dogs who enter shelters, the percentage of being adopted is about 35%, and the percentage of being euthanized is about 35%.
